Return Policy

 

UC Computer Store Return Policy

  • Current versions of software that are still in the shrink wrap, purchased within 5 business days can normally be returned if you have your receipt. If an item did not come in shrink wrap, it must be in resellable condition and the seal on the software cannot be broken. After five days, if a product is deemed still returnable, refunds will be made at the current selling price of the item or the price on the receipt whichever is less.
  • Opened hardware and software can not be returned. Defectives can be exchanged (see below).
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Student/ Staff versions of Microsoft and Adobe products cannot be returned. They can be exchanged if they are proven defective. There will be NO exceptions to this policy.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Volume licensed software cannot be returned. There will be NO exceptions to this policy.
  • Defective software can be swapped for the same item within 5 days of purchase (provided it has not been discontinued). Exceptions to this rule are products from Wolfram, Autodesk, and Minitab, which must be arranged directly with the manufacturer by the customer. After 5 days, all returns must be arranged by the customer with the manufacturer.
  • All defective hardware or software returns must be verified as defective. All returned items must be in their original boxes or packaging.
  • Returns of open (but not defective) hardware will be contingent but not limited to: the condition of the return (resaleable?) and the time elapsed from date of purchase. Returns must have a valid receipt.
  • Defective hardware (e.g. Apple, Lenovo/Thinkpad, Toshiba, Howard, etc) cannot be returned without approval in advance from the manufacturer. The manufacturer may choose to have the item repaired under warranty.
  • Open ink cartridges are not returnable for any reason. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Unopened cartridges can be returned within 5 business days provided you have a receipt. If you do not know the exact part number of your cartridge, please know your model number of your printer and our staff will assist you in locating the right cartridges for your printer.
  • Special orders that are returned unopened within 5 days with receipt can usually be returned, but there will be a restocking fee that will cover the costs of returning the item back to the manufacturer. In some cases (e.g. QuarkXPress), there are NO RETURNS.
  • We are not responsible for special order items left on our shelves over 60 days after all reasonable efforts have been made to inform the customer of its arrival. Customers wanting refunds or having a DOA (Dead on Arrival) problem with software or hardware that was not picked up promptly will have to deal directly with the manufacturer.
